What the World Really Wants is a Hummer with Undercoating and the Extended Warranty

After eight years of advocating for low-cost investments and ethically-sold products, we think it's time to expand
our thinking (and wallets!). The website www.403bwise.com is announcing today that it is now endorsing high-cost products.
That's right. We have grown weary of pushing the investment equivalent of Honda Civics when what the world really wants
is a Hummer with undercoating protection and the extended warranty.
You know that NEA "Value" Builder product with the 5 percent load? Go for it! Think of it this way: the economy is in
the dumper and since teachers generally have secure employment (except maybe in California where they seem to be growing
comfortable with the notion of 50 kids in a classroom) — and pensions! — it's almost their duty to buy these higher
cost investments in order to help lift the nation out of these difficult fiscal times. It's actually a very patriotic act.
After all, why else would some of these higher cost companies name themselves after some of our most lauded presidents?
Plus, now that we have officially endorsed high-cost vendors we can begin to start rolling in the advertising dough. Why
should unions be the only ones cozying up to Big Financial? Furthermore, we urge all school districts to continue to keep
their employees in the dark about the workings of the 403(b) retirement plan. Do not provide any information unless it is
vendor-created. Our favorite kinds of "information" are the ones that specifically leave out info on surrender charges and
fees.
If history has proven anything it's that information and education are very dangerous.
Have a great April First. |
