| We know that most participants are quite capable of managing their 403(b) on their own. But we also know that many participants would prefer to employ the services of a qualified financial representative. After all, the 403(b) is just one piece of an individual’s overall financial picture. | ||
| To help connect participants searching for sound, objective financial service, we have created the 403(b)wise Advisor Directory. The requirements for inclusion are quite steep. In fact, of the hundreds of financial professionals who have requested inclusion, only a small percentage have met our requirements. | ||
| Participant Due Diligence | ||
| While we have set the bar for inclusion in the directory high, and required each advisor sign a legal document agreeing to abide by our terms, we cannot stress enough that participants must perform their own due diligence. To help in this effort, we have created the 403(b)wise Advisor Questionnaire (pdf). | ||
| History of Advice in 403(b) Plans | ||
| Public 403(b) plans have typically been serviced by vendor-representatives. Some of these people have been quite good; some have not been. While some have emphasized education, many have emphasized sales. As a result, participants have often been sold unsuitable, high-fee products with onerous surrender charges that benefit the representative more than the participant. As a counter to this model, we have created a directory of advisors who subscribe to our philosophy of providing quality, objective advice. Our goal is to make the 403(b)wise Advisor Directory the go-to resource for 403(b) participants looking for sound, objective financial service. | ||
